Palamu district of Jharkhand falls in one of the backward regions of the country. In 2006, the Indian government named Palamu as one of the country’s 250 most backward districts.
Reach of higher education was very poor and Nilambar-Pitamber University, the only University in the region, was set up as late as in the year 2009. RCWT, which has setup RCU recently, has always taken up the tough challenge of spreading higher education in the most back ward regions of our country. This is exemplified by the fact that in Palamu, there are about 18 colleges out of which 10 colleges are run by RCWT.
LCDMC was established in 2002 and presently offers graduate degrees in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Students can opt for Honours degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, History, Political Science, Economics, English, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Hindi and Accounting.
Shortly Postgraduate degrees in Arts and other streams will be offered to expand the reach of higher education to the aspiring students.
